About the IABS

  • The Irish Architects Benevolent Society (IABS) provides assistance to those in the architectural community who find themselves in crisis. IABS directors operate on a wholly voluntary basis. Assistance is provided based on individual need and all our work is done in strict confidence. Assessments are carried out swiftly and we provide moral support and guidance in addition to financial assistance to help colleagues through difficult and distressing times.

  • The IABS is an independent registered charity. It relies entirely on the generosity of the architectural community for its funding and its directors operate on a wholly voluntary basis.

The current directors are: Joe Kennedy (Chair), Will Gleeson (Treasurer), Triona Stack (Company Secretary), Carole Pollard, Derek Dockrell, Anna Donegan, Clare Kilty, Sean Mahon, Robin Mandal, Sandra O'Riordan, David Shannon.

  • The Irish Architects Benevolent Society (IABS) was founded in 1959 and was modelled on the equivalent body in Britain. It is a completely independent entity with a registered address at 8 Merrion Square, Dublin 2, home of the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI). It receives no funding from the RIAI but is very grateful for RIAI support of its activities and for helping to raise awareness of the IABS.

  • The IABS is a Registered Charity and is fully compliant with the Charity Governance Code set down by the Irish Charities Regulator. The company constitution is available here. The privacy of our beneficiaries and the confidentiality of the work we do remains the IABS highest priority.
